Living a digital life

The Internet changed our everyday life allot. Apps help us communicating with far away friends, navigation is a lot simpler, and we get the information we are looking for –instantly! In our case the Internet made possible a whole new way of life. We do what we think is right, always. We are not only our own bosses and decide when we work, but also where we work and how long we work (which is often too long ) But this is only because we don’t see our work as work anymore. It is really fun to do something that you think makes the world a bit better and makes such a life possible for yourself at the same time. Often (maybe too often) it is really difficult to stop yourself from writing the next blog post, implementing the next shop feature or designing the next bikini. We have to hold ourselves back from working too much and go out and see the world, that we are travelling. Of course it’s a big step to …

Khadi & Co in the press

With the summer season coming to an end, we are preparing our next season. We were super proud when Kahdi & Co handed us a copy from the HERITAGE POST while ordering their beach towels in Paris. It was a great surpise when we saw the big feature about Khadi & Co! We have been selling their beautiful hand made towels for 3 seasons now and are happy to announce that we bought some more unique products! Beach bags, dressing gowns and beach blankets from Kahdi & Co will be available from March ´17 on!

Hikinig on Pelješac

Several weeks have passed now without being able to surf, so we decided to do a little hiking to keep our athletic spirits up. The peninsula of Pelješac in Southern Croatia is excellent for this as there are many hills and mountains, the highest being Sveti Ilja at 962 meters. It is a little creepy hiking here during the off-season… The only people we saw on the way up were two Croatians in a jeep, armed and ready to hunt for wild boars or to protect themselves from wild dogs… Aha! Luckily we met neither wild boars nor dogs and instead met a Swabian couple with their very sweet dog Holly on the peak. Once we reached the top of Sveti Ilja we were awarded an epic view – on one side we could see all the way to the mainland and on the other, the island of Korcula and past it (it was a clear day) we could see Italy.  Amazing and totally worth the adventure! The scent of sage filled our nostrils all …

Results of 4,5 weeks “no-poo”

Some of you may have read our blog post about our experiment “hair washing without shampoo”. After 4 weeks we wanted to show you some pictures of the results. So we did a little photoshoot for you while we were visitig Agropoli in Italy. A small historic town in the area of Cilentro. before // This pictures shows Willi´s hair after one week without washing. I decided to skip this step of taking pictuers.   washing procedure // We tried white healing earth and coffee grounds, but found that rye flour and apple cyder work better with our hair. We mix rye flour with water and leave this “natural shampoo” in our hair for a minimun of one hour. We rinse it out with warm water and use apple cider mixed with water as a conditioner. It´s importand to wash out the cider with cold water to close the hair structure.   after // Our hair is soft, clean, and has a healthy shine.

Two are better than one

We are super happy to introduce you to the newest member of MYMARINI – William! Until now he was my companion in life and MYMARINI consultant. Now he is also my full time partner at MYMARINI! What is your position at MYMARINI? As a youngster I was obsessed with Legos and was determined to do something similar when I became an adult.  I became a mechanical engineer and built all different types of industrial machines for quite a while. Somehow it didn’t fulfill me though and I realized my career didn’t satisfactorily incorporate my love for nature. In the summer of 2016 I gathered the courage to quit my safe and secure job, sold my car and officially became Partner at MYMARINI. Mareen oversees the emotional and social aspects and has excellent instinct when it comes to making wise choices by following her “gut feeling”. I make sure the numbers are right, take care of the logical sides and manage strategic aspects. Do you have a career goal? Work should never be boring and I …

The “No Poo” ‘Do

Maybe some of you have already heard of the “No Poo” method, which already has quite a following. Many of the advantages are self explanatory – as you probably know, washing your hair every day leads to excessive activity of the sebaceous glands and thus quickly greasing hair. Surfactants harmful to our planet are in most regular shampoos as well and of course any measure of reducing plastic waste is always a plus. To be honest, I think the abbreviation is pretty silly, but the results are supposed to be great  – “No Poo” stands for No Shampoo, just incase I didn’t make that connection clear yet. This new step to life in our motorhome, far away from the office and locations where our faces are not familiar seemed like the ideal opportunity to try “No Poo” and see what the hype is about. Anyone we meet doesn’t know what we normally look like and will probably just think our hair is this way from the last surf session. The beginning of the process is …

Making of Summer ’17

A surprising first week in croatia comes to an end. On monday we picked up Christin our photographer from the airport in Split and while we were waiting we spotted beautiful Katja who was waiting for a friend too. And guess where she comes from? Hamburg – where all gorgeous women come from! Straight away we asked her to be our Model and weren’t disappointed. We are too excited to hide some first impressions for the next season! Starting a digital life

After 24 hours of driving and two nights of sleep we finally arrived at our first stop – Croatia! On the Island with the funny name “Krk” we immediately did what we so long were looking forward to: Windsurfing and connecting to nature! We felt the wind, we were refreshed by the water, we ate the most delicious figs from the tree and grilled our steak by the fire… somehow our refrigerator was inspired by getting back to the roots and did what materials usually do naturally, namely nothing… One moment in paradise, the next in a hot pursuit for getting the fridge fixed. Not an easy task in Croatia, especially since this system is absolutely foreign in this part of the world. 24 hours later we find our selves pedal to the floor speeding back to Austria, the only place with a new replacement… Once there just meeting the deadline for the closing shops we couldn’t believe it. Our good old fridge seemed to be reanimated by the dare devil trip – it’s alive! …
